How do you get clients eager to hire you as their VA? From my experience, there are ten ways to make clients keen to hire your VA services. I need to add a proviso here: It doesn’t happen overnight; it takes hard work. You can’t expect to put out a few SM posts and have clients beating down your door. It just doesn’t work that way. You have to prove your credibility, and that takes time. Credibility is the key!

There is much to be said about virtual assistant businesses that stand the test of time. Generally, the VA has progressed to calling themselves an Online Business Manager or CEO (me included). Their offer changes, their pricing and their thinking changes. These strategic changes are essential and need to happen for the progression and growth of your business.

Every year, on December 3, I celebrate a specific client’s anniversary. This client has been working with me for 13 years. If that doesn’t speak to the credibility of my business, I don’t know what does. To be transparent, this client was a referral for a mutual connection with whom I had never worked. I had made a strong impression enough that they spoke my name when she asked if he knew any VAs.

Below are ten things we do that are part of the JMJ value and mission statements. Team members who work with JMJ must fit this culture because if they don’t, we can’t guarantee we will consistently do all ten.

The Ultimate Guide: 10 Ways to Make Clients Keen to Hire Your VA Services

  1. Make considered decisions so our clients can make informed ones.
  2. JMJ provides the solution to our clients’ problems.
  3. We don’t charge for non-client-centric work
  4. Don’t say we can when we can’t
  5. We are consistently reliable
  6. Foster connection and trust
  7. Own what is working on our end and what isn’t working
  8. Operate strategically and intentionally
  9. Value professional development to improve our offering
  10. Transparent in everything we do

It can only help your VA business if you consistently do these ten things to attract the quality clients you need to grow your business and your VA services. Let’s dive into that a little more because there are three sorts of VAs in my book.

The general VA

a VA who is seeking long-term clients.

The above ten points should be part of your strategy for attracting and maintaining clients. Sometimes, apathy can creep in if you don’t keep a check on it, and clients and VAs can take each other for granted simply because they are so familiar with working together. Just because someone has been with you for 13 years doesn’t mean you stop delivering the goods or letting things slip. Consistency in all things is key.

The single-focus VA

who is seeking one-off clients

For VA business owners specialising in one specific market, the client moves on when the task ends. You still need to display the ten qualities. The person you have done the work for will be singing your praises and recommending you to others who need your services. Just because you are working on one task for them and then you may never work with them again doesn’t mean you provide them any less of your professionalism.

Often, one-off tasks can be like processing customers at the checkout, next, next.

Word of mouth is the best advertising you will ever get for your VA business.
