We all know there is 24 hours in a day, and 7 days in a week. But for some reason, we are bent on trying to create more time to squeezing more in. It’s a bit like trying to jam a round peg into a square whole. It just won’t work. What you need to do is allocate your time appropriately.
When you’re thinking about starting your virtual assistant business, there are several things on the time equation that you need to factor in. If you don’t, you’re not setting yourself up for the win. Have a think about how much time you want to devote to your business to help it grow. How much time do you want to spend working and how much time do you want to devote to yourself, your family and friends? It’s pretty simple right, these are common sense things. Surprising though, we take them for granted and assume everything will just work out, but it won’t and it doesn’t unless you plan.
I look at is this way, there are four quadrants to my day:
- Midnight to 6am
- 6am to midday
- Midday to 6pm
- 6pm to midnight
I would like to think that between midnight and 6am like me, you are getting the sleep that you need to get you through the day, after all, you need to get a lot done.
Not planning your time will see you trapped in a business that is stressful, frustrating and not paying you what you’re worth. It’s a fail-fail situation.
It’s important to understand what time you have available so that you don’t over commit yourself. Over committing will only lead to frustration, confusion , stress and failure.
By knowing how much time your business is going to take up from the beginning, you can work on, plan and grow your business over time.
