If you don’t want it bad enough you won’t get it but these strategies will help your business.

H.G. Wells said it more bluntly, “The path of least resistance is the path of the loser“. Making the business decision to fight for what you want can be a tough one. It seems to depend a lot on what’s happening in your life right now. How many times have you heard someone say, “I’m so busy; I’m too busy; I don’t have time”.

Well, guess what, busy is what’s stopping you from getting it done. Stop using it as a crutch to moving forward.

How busy is stopping your business growth

In my business, if I’m too busy that I can’t think clearly, I’m doing too much. It’s that simple. I’m not delegating enough of the business. (This also comes under control freak). So I try really hard not to say, I’m busy. It simply means I don’t have a grip on what I’m supposed to be doing for my business.

Over the past 3 months, I’ve been approached by 3 very successful business people, who need help ‘desperately‘ (their words not mine) in their businesses. Ironically, they never came to pass and here is why.

They obviously are not yet in the right space, their busyness hasn’t tipped them over the edge yet (wait, it will), they aren’t overwhelmed to the point of sheer frustration with being so busy and their families are obviously not giving them a hard enough time for not spending time with them. Don’t get me wrong, these are NOT things I want you to aspire to.

To help you avoid the point of no return, these five things will help you un-busy yourself.

  1. Get clarity – work out what it is you’re doing that is taking all your time. What is it you’re doing during the day that you can stop doing if you had help?
  2. Love what you do – work out what it is that you love doing. What is the stuff in your business that keeps you getting out of bed in the morning?
  3. Get the expertise to help – Now you have the list of stuff you don’t need to be doing, find the right person to help you. If you’re a coach, then chances are you’re so busy doing all the appointment scheduling, rescheduling, surveys, pre and post, CRM management, sending reminders, following up on LoE’s etc that you’re scrambling to find time to do the actual coaching, let alone go out and find new clients.
  4. Invest in your business – Getting the right help doesn’t come cheap. You know yourself, you don’t work for peanuts so don’t expect the person helping you to either. If you’re making in excess of 30k per month, expect to pay 10% of that each month to the person who has unbusied you so you can go out and create more business.
  5. Stop micromanaging – We get that your business is your labour of love, it’s your baby, you built it, no one knows it better than you. True! When you’re paying someone top dollar to help you with your business, micromanagement is the worst of all traits that you can display. In fact, it will get you fired from JMJ – EA for a Day.

If you can get those five things right, you won’t look back, here is what happens when you stop being busy.
