Think you need a niche?

Disclaimer: You don’t have to have one, but if you do or want to, I’ve shared below how I worked out my niche and why.

Why I chose to work with a niche

In a nutshell, I chose to work in a niche area because I have specific expertise, and there is a client base for that expertise. There is only one me; no one else in the world can do what I do like I do, so I’ve eliminated a lot of competition. This allows me to charge a higher rate, too and of course, there are wonderful referrals.

I’ve compiled a short video about my niche and why I chose it. Follow the links below to check it out. You can also find below some great reasons why you should consider working in a niche.

6 Reasons Why This Is Important to Your Virtual Assistant Business

Target your market: This makes content creation and curation easy and more focused. Your message is consistent and will resonate with your target market. This makes it easier for you to stand out in the crowd. If you get your message right, your potential clients should be able to see themselves in your message.

Be the expert: Professional development is much easier when working in a specific niche, making it super easy to keep your skills updated and increase your expertise in that area. I have found that clients are more likely to trust those with specialised knowledge and a proven track record.

There is only one you: As I mentioned above, no one can do what you do like you do. That is what makes you unique. Having a niche allows you to showcase your expertise and highlights your uniqueness, reducing your competition.

They value your worth: Your ideal client is the client in your niche and who can pay your invoice. I have found that clients who know my worth don’t have a problem paying my rate. They learn through referrals and word of mouth that my clients reap the benefits of working with me.

Clients shout your name from the rooftops: I’ve seen it so many times in Facebook Groups that people share the details of those who have helped them when someone is looking for help. Word-of-mouth referrals are powerful marketing tools, and by working within a niche, you increase the chances of getting referrals.

Systems and processes: You build a scalable business once you introduce systems and processes into your business. Monday.com is my preferred tool of choice for this. After all, I do it for clients, so I’d be silly not to have them in place for my business. It’s another way to help your clients: being efficient in your niche.

When you have a niche, it’s a strategic approach to helping you change your lifestyle.
