As the keeper of all things admin, you know how to do everything for your office or role. What happens when you get sick or go on leave, or if you leave your role? Can the next person pick everything up and run with it?

Create your own procedure folder, everything from the office milk deliveries to the mail room delivery times to step by step instructions on how your role is to be performed when you are not there, the way you like things to be done. It needs to be comprehensive and it helps if you use alphabetical indices and have a table of contents at the front.

You don’t need to write every procedure, use what you have on hand i.e., memos, rosters, email updates and print and add to your folder.

Remember though, keep your folder updated.
